PUBLIC & PRIVATE SECTOR SOURCES
If you are thinking of transitioning from life as a guitar student to one as a professional musician, there is a considerable amount of grant-based financial support available, in countries like Canada, to assist with the process of launching your career. Students that have studied with me, and are ready to make this step, are able to benefit from the grant-oriented resources and connections that I continually develop and maintain. In many cases, one of the most significant areas of support that I can offer is in the preparation and evaluation of your Grant Applications.
Grants for musicians in Canada, for instance, are available from public-sector organizations — including the Canadian Council For The Arts (CCA), Ontario Arts Council (OAC), and Toronto Arts Council (TAC). Funding is also available through the Arts & Cultural Industries Promotion Division (ACA) of the Department of Foreign Affairs.
In the private-sector, funding organizations often support specific goals. The Foundation To Assist Canadian Talent On Records (FACTOR), for example, provides financial support for studio recordings. Depending on your career goals, other sources of support may potentially come from the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC), and the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN). And, of course, there are similar organizations in other countries around the world.
